Eleven years ago today I became a mom when I gave birth to my daughter Kaili at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston! She was born at 1:06am and by the time she was delivered I was exhausted (no one really prepares you for the intensity of birth). By the time we got down to my room (my husband was already sleeping) it was 4 in the morning. The nurse wanted me to get sleep and she said they were taking Kaili to get cleaned up and would bring her to me after I rested. About 30 minutes later I hear this crying coming down the hall, I jump up "It's Kaili, it's Kaili", in those few short hours, I knew her cry. The nurse came in and said, sorry mom, we tried everything and passed her around, we could not get her settled, she is not a happy camper. I said "no wonder" what we both just went through".... Any way, within a minute I had this baby soothed, I held her and said, mommy's here, it's okay. From that moment, I learned the incredible natural gift of motherhood and the bond between mother and child.
Happy Birthday Kaili, I am so proud to be your mom! You are a HIPP girl and you inspire me to be a HIPP Mom!
Have a HIPP day and give birth to something new today!
