Okay, my day yesterday was a great example. The morning was spent on client service stuff, and completely bending over backwards to keep a customer happy. The good news is, she now wants to have me over for tea! So, I was not eating bon bons, I had a productive morning, scheduling appointments and keeping people HAPPY!!!
Last night, we have 2 baseball games and I am in charge of Colby, I am running around looking for his uniform, of course, can't find it, I think it got left behind at Gramma's or the washer machine ate it (along with every other sock in my house). He is on the white sox (black) so we try our best and turn a red sox (navy) t-shirt inside out. We grab dad's black dress socks (because we can't find his b-ball socks) and head on over to the field. Mother of the year! We finish the game (baby boy gets game ball) and I am like, great I now have to run down to the store to buy all the stuff for Kaili's State Fair, she has Kansas and we are making Kansas Mud Pie. I am thinking (I should have bought all this stuff today) but I didn't have time, I was taking care of myself (yoga) and running my business (productive and balanced). So off we go, it is 7:30pm and we are in the grocery store buying what we need. Oh, by the way, meatballs are in the crock pot (Betty Crocker moment I will take it), but still have to make Charlie something on his Whole foods diet (BTW, made a FAB saute' with left over Tilapia, I saute'd in EVOO onion & garlic, grape tomatoes, added fresh basil, capers, splash white wine, fresh lemon, s+p, would have added calamta olives but did not have any, it was delicious!!!!! Back to the jam session... after making Kaili's mud pie (which she made most of it, I just helped here and there = MESS), Colby discovers I bought a big box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch (I never buy that but it was in the buy this not that, and I thought I would treat the kids), they are BEGGING me for CTC, I have not boiled pasta yet, okay, it is cereal for dinner, by the time home work is done, kitchen is clean (with exception of dirty pots) it is 9pm, past there bed time.
Anyway, the message here is HIPP does not mean June Cleaver or Martha Stewart and the like, As much as I love Martha (I have Martha moments) but that is not me (and I can bet it is not you too)!!!!! While I do get a LOT done and I balance a lot, I feel like I am Lucille Ball half the time and for me, it is trying, falling down, laughing, and taking short cuts as moms to "get the job done"! Quite simply, it is living the "H" in Hipp, doing things with humor and having fun (or being stressed) and laughing later about it!!!!!
On the HIPP side, dinner is made tonight for the kids, just need to boil pasta. In the classroom this morning for State Fair, will work a few hours, going on a power walk with a good friend I have not spent time w/in a while. It's all good! Okay, gotta run, kids are yelling to me, "GET BREAKFAST"! It's a glamorous life!
Have a HIPP day and remember H is for HUMOR! Find the laugh in most "Lucille" moments for yourself. Have a HIPP day, I know I will!
