Balance & Presence!

I had lunch with a friend that I have not connected with in a while, it was so great to connect, and share with each other what is happening and also our roles as moms.  Part of our conversation was about the importance of being there for your kids, it was a great conversation for a many reasons, but one is that it was so great to share a common issue/and belief with another mom.

We talked about how our primary role is being there for them, helping them with homework and making sure that no one falls through the cracks.  We both have one child that has different needs and may demand more attention and how that requires focus, initiative, awareness and patience!

There are afternoons I would rather be back in my corporate role dealing with a demanding client than having to be the mom in the kitchen fighting over homework and breaking up fights between siblings.    I realize thou that the most important role I can play right now in my life, is being a mom, being present and living a life of balance!  In 10 years, I won't be able to do it over again, however, in 10 years, I will have more time, more options and more wisdom!

So, if you are a mom that works from home or balances work, family, obligations, you too know that it is so important to be present, and be the most important pillar in your child's life!

I love when my guys run in the door from school, and I am in the kitchen, getting their snack, talking about their day and connecting with them and reminding them about the comforts from home!  It is not always perfect but 80% of the time, it is right on!

So HIPP moms, create an afternoon at home where your kids feel warmth, comfort and the joy of home and the joy of having a loving, caring mom (even if you have to bite your tongue at times)!  Hot cocoa, & a baked good are just the thing to create a time where you show them that you are there and you are present!

Have a HIPP day!
